Clementine Creative identity design process

In this post I will talk about my process of designing my new logo, business card and the rest of the identity. I used to work under the name Cipher Design, but after some deliberation I decided to change my business name.

Cipher Design was my first business name and after a while I've outgrown it. I decided to change my business name. So first, I wrote a business plan and decided who my target market will be. I chose women as my target market because I feel that it fits my design style and I understand what women want.

Cipher Design didn't sound very feminine; it sounded more mysterious. I created about 30 new names, most of them already taken when I did a Google search. Clementine Creative was one of my favourites, plus it wasn't taken!

Inspiration for logo

Some of my favourite things were rounded fonts, slab-serif fonts, thick oulining, turquoise and purple.

The first logo

I experimented with the logo in the left corner and with different fonts. The first logo I designed used a simple, modern font with the logo mark in the bottom right corner.

However, later I thought that it was too simple, so I used a slab-serif font and gave it a thick stroke:

Colour choice

The colours for my logo are Pantone 2607 C and Pantone 306 C, one of my favourite colour combinations.
